The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song
This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.
Overall, the opening appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the song choice.
The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar song created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the official score of that title, the second one put out by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will love its inclusion.
But for me, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of adventurous fun.
The show's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.
Of course, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be among these.
The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to get to know the personas of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
