Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, however can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Experiences

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I will not push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.

A family member told me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

Fulham have got plenty of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
