Netflix Chooses Ideal Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Mr. 2. The role possesses the power to morph into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their right hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a version of that character re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the source material and cartoon version.
Escola will work alongside several other fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to life, including chief Sir Crocodile, played by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Though the role is a important part of the group, the character won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. With season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this signals a major departure in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate further changes to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is due to premiere for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
