Mohamed Salah Offers Apology to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad following the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a vital match after criticising the club and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has chosen not to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the Salah's words were never meant to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, performing and securing victories.”
