Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
