The man suspected of being the recent fatal violence at Brown University authorities state died by suicide on Thursday night, according to officials.
The discovery was made at a storage facility on Thursday evening, as reported citing an enforcement source. The same individual is also suspected of the murder of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor at a residence in the Boston area.
“He took his own life this evening,” stated the chief of the Providence police department during a press conference.
The chief named the deceased man as Claudio Nevis Valenti, a 48-year-old student at Brown University.
This development follows a significant police operation at a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire earlier on Thursday. Witnesses described seeing multiple armed officers converging on the location.
The intensive search for the perpetrator had resumed on Monday after state prosecutors revealed that a individual detained on Sunday had been let go. This development was acknowledged to be likely to cause fresh anxiety for the city residents.
